Sweet Mondays! Well okay, sometimes Monday doesn't feel so welcome. Back to the slog of work and chores that the weekend offered a repreave from. But what if it was a Sweet Monday? What would it look like? For decades I have called Monday, "Take back the House Day". From the early days of being a Newly-Wed, Mondays became my all encompassing domestic duty day. No, I couldn't do it all in one day. No one can. But, Monday was always a day of rededication. Vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, laundry, ect..... you get the picture. Peeling off the dirt layers of life is theraputic. The shiny clean scrubbed floors, walls and windows give our eyes a welcome repreave from the challenges in our lives. Ah, Sweet Mondays! So what does this have to do with a Knitting Blog? On the surface nothing, but if we dig a little deeper we see the clutter of our lives gets in the way of the things we really wish to do, were meant to do. We are pulled in a hundred different directions and loose control of our "steering wheels". Mondays are a day to clear away the clutter and rededicate ourselves. Peal off the layers dirtying up our lives and come out showing our true shiny scrubbed selves. Hey, if that shiny scrubbed self happens to knit, all the better. Turn your efforts to THE STASH, you know the one behind the door no one dares to open. What knitting dream is pinned on the bottom under three feet of odds and ends and half done projects? We all know there are some misknits that need to be unravelled, do it. There are some projects you ran out of time for or forgot about when some flashier project floated by (ie the visit to that cute little yarn shop when you were on vacation with the yarn you just HAD to have). Well this is the time to finish things! The feeling of finishing is nothing short of satisfying and liberating!! If your baby outgrew that sweater before you could finished it, finish it anyway. It will make a heartfelt baby gift for another bubbley little bundle and will feel so good for you to complete. We live in a culture fascinated with the next big thing at the sacrific of enjoying what we are doing today. Well it's time to rededicate ourselves to our families, friends, and ourselves and yes our knitting. SWEET MONDAY'S!!!!!
